Grandmother's Cows
"The summers could be hot in Wisconsin’s Jackson County, where my family spent two weeks each summer vacationing on my grandmother’s farm.  I was accustomed to swimming everyday, and found myself desperately looking for a place to cool off when I remembered the huge wooden water tank in the barnyard.  I hopped into that tank and had a good cooling off, and thought nothing more about it – until my uncle started asking questions.  He wanted to know why his thirsty cows were standing around the water tank just looking, not drinking.

My uncle had to drain the tank and clean it in order to get them to drink, and that was the end of my barnyard pool."
